Te Wiki o te Reo Maori - Arohatia te Reo!

This week our Celebration Assembly focused on te ao Maori and the opening of our new stage. Matua Mike Nikora carried out a blessing to begin our assembly. The students performed a wide range of items from waiata to plays using and celebrating te reo Maori. Thanks also to all the school community whanau that came and supported this happy occasion.

The Completed Kowhaiwhai

Kowhaiwhai Pattern

As mentioned in an earlier blog a group of senior students have been designing a kowhaiwhai pattern for the school. This has been completed with the students getting support from visiting local marae, Theresa Reihana and Kim Subritzky.
This pattern will now be transferred on into a panel in front of the school that flows around the whole front. We are inviting everyone from our school community to get involved by helping out with the painting of the panels. We have a special day planned on the 17th August. Come along an get involved.

Cool New Kaiako in Nga Ringa Awhina

A big welcome to Natalie Carter to Mangonui School. Natalie taught previously at Whenuapai School in Auckland and Pompallier School in Kaitaia. The learners in Nga Ringa Awhina are really excited about having Mrs Carter as their new teacher.
