Te Kauhanga Marae Visit

Every week great learning opportunities happen at Mangonui School. This week Kotuku and Nga Ringa Awhina visited Te Kauhanga Marae. Papa Ganny and Ngaire Tauhara welcomed us into the wharenui and gave the students a korero on the history of Te Kauhanga and local area. Ngaire and Theresa Reihana spoke about the wharenui and the connections between the pou, kowhaiwhai and the tahuhu. It was an amazing experience that shows just how lucky we are live in the real Far North.
