Junior School Reading Morning

The Junior School had another 'Engagement Day' focused on Reading in the Junior Classroom. Parents were invited to come along and watch reading being taught and do some reading with their child. There was also an opportunity to have a talk with teachers. It was really well attended. They are planning a Maths Day on November the 6th.

Eastern Rugby Champs

Members of the victorious Eastern Rugby team came to show the Bell Shield  they won in the Far North Rugby finals. They beat Ngati Kuri, Aupori, Awanui, Motukohu, Nga Raroa, Te Rawera and Kaitaia in the finals to take home the gold. Tohi the captain spoke to the school about the history of the shield and answered questions from our students. Our boys performed a haka and the school sang waiata to acknowledge their appreciation of Eastern coming to our school.

End of Reading Week

It was a bit strange walking into the Kowhai classroom and seeing Tuatara students, in the Kotuku classroom were Pukeko's and in the Tuatata were Kotuku... Confused? We finished off our week of celebrating reading by the students visiting other classrooms and teachers to hear a cool book. Everyone had a great time. It was a fantastic week, thanks Mrs Archibald.

Reading Week

Every year Mangonui School celebrates Reading Week. Every day students do different activities to learn about books, authors and the power of reading. Here are some photos of Character Day. Students wrote character descriptions and then shared these with other students. It was very impressive especially when you have New Entrants reading confidently to a crowd.

Celebration Assembly

Celebration assembly once again provided a spectacle of what learning is taking place in our classrooms. We had recount writing to learning about the Olympics on show. Well done to everyone who got up on stage and shared their work.

Kowhaiwhai Day

It was great to see the school community come into school and join us do the painting of the kowhaiwhai panels. They are beginning to take shape.
Well done to our senior group of students who taught and guided the students and parents on how to paint the panels. Kim said they were wonderful teachers, caring, polite and kind.
